The Expository Paragraph

Tempestad

A- 1- Prospero made a "religion"on his island where he was in command. It was more of a dictatorship than a religion. He oppressed everyone on the island to do his bidding. At the end he gave everyone the freedom they deserved.

2- Caliban was made a slave and oppressed by Prospero to do his manual labor. Prospero tried to civilize Caliban but it didn't work. Slowly he was planing a rebellion, he wanted freedom.

3- The shadows showed a bit of everything. Showing the boat crash and the wedding without having an actual set to show it. It brought a bit of extra comedy to the play.


B- 1- Caliban sounds like he really wants to make a change and be free. Also he is wiser and smarter than he looks.

2- She goes from being so close to her father to being in love and disagreeing with her father's methods.

3- They envisioned themselves being kings and ruling the island, even though they end up fighting over alcohol.

4-  Using live music and sounds to invest the audience more into the play.

5- It was a good play and it made me laugh at moments. I would see it again if I had the chance to do so. The thing that bothered me was that the change in scenes were somewhat quick and I ended up getting a little lost in the story.

6- Caliban represented the theme of oppression and freedom really well. Being treated as a slave when Prospero came to the island and took over. Being forced to do work and Prospero's bidding, he slowly started waiting for the moment to rebel against him. At the end, he gets his freedom and decides to fight Prospero for once and for all.
